Delayed Or Damaged Baggage


Lost a Personal Item?

We know dealing with delayed or damaged luggage is frustrating, and if you've also realized you lost a personal item, we want to help ease the stress. You can report your lost item here to start the recovery process. Please share all the detailed information you can ,it's the best way to help us find and return your item as quickly as possible!


We understand that baggage is an important part of your journey. If your baggage did not arrive with you or is damaged, we will do everything we can to recover, repair, and return your baggage


  • Checked baggage will be delivered to the bearer of the baggage check. If any damage or loss is discovered upon baggage pick-up, passengers must promptly file a written claim with Nile Air personnel at the airport (or a Nile Air representative) at the time of the damage /loss discovery. Nile Air's response will be provided after 7 days for damage claims after 21 days for loss claims.
  • The sooner you report a problem to us the quicker we can resolve it, so make sure you report your missing baggage while you’re still at the airport.
  • The more accurate information you can give us about your baggage colour, identifying marks, etc. the better we can serve you.


If despite all efforts your checked baggage is damaged, delayed or lost; Nile Air’s liability for checked baggage shall not exceed 1,131 SDRs (Special Drawing Rights) per passenger as limited by the Montreal Convention.

  • Nile Air is not liable for damage to unchecked baggage unless the damage was caused by our negligence or the negligence of our agents.
  • Nile Air is not liable for the loss, damage to or delay in the delivery of fragile or perishable articles, money, jewellery, precious metals, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables (including but not limited to cameras or electronic equipment, films, laptops, etc.) business documents or samples which are included in the passenger’s checked baggage, whether with or without the knowledge of the airline. Such personal valuables items should be carried by the passenger in person or the carry-on baggage under his care.


For your safety: DO NOT ACCEPT BAGGAGE BELONGING TO ANYONE ELSE.


Nile Air is not liable for damage to baggage which includes the following:

  • Minor cuts, scratches, scuffs, dents, dirt and stains
  • Damage to wheels, feet or extending handles
  • Damage to fragile or perishable items
  • Damage due to over-packed baggage
  • Loss of external locks, pull straps, security straps or zipper tabs
  • Baggage accepted under the conditions of the Limited Release Tag (LRT)
  • Items confiscated by airport authorities or security


For security reasons, passengers are subject to considerable bodily and baggage checks especially when carrying liquid items in the hand baggage. In addition to international security regulations many airports have their own rules and regulations to which a passenger will have to submit.

Damaged baggage

If your checked baggage arrived damaged, immediately make a report at the airport.

Based on the description/evidence of damage, our agents will assess the damage and raise a report.

Please note our liability for damaged baggage is based on our Conditions of Carriage and/or the Warsaw or Montreal Conventions, unless a higher value has been declared in advance, our liability remains limited.

We are also not responsible for baggage damage due to normal wear and tear, which includes:

  • Cuts, scratches, scuffs, dents and marks;
  • Damage to or loss of protruding parts, including straps, pockets, pull handles, hanger hooks, wheels, external locks, security straps, or zipper tabs;
  • Damage due to improper or overpacking;
  • Baggage accepted under the conditions of the Limited Release Tag - including items retrieved or confiscated by airport authorities or security personnel.


Please do not include valuables, important documents or money in your checked baggage. Your fragile or perishable items should not be carried in checked baggage as well.
